The mission of the Health Services Department is to advance the educational pursuits of district students by promoting optimal health and well being.
Nursing/Health Services: The Thompson School District Health Services Department is responsible for the health services provided in the health office by school nurses and health aides or the health related services provided in the classroom by trained special education paraprofessionals. These services include the provision of first aid for injuries as well as screening for illnesses, hearing or vision concerns, communicable diseases and conditions (i.e. head lice, flu), as well as the collection of student immunization information as required by state law. Additionally, school nurses work with students, families and health care providers to connect students to needed health care resources and design and implement a plan of care for students whose health concerns affect the student's ability to access education.
