The Basics

Monroe Elementary School is a public elementary school servicing students in full-time kindergarten up to fifth grade. We are part of the Thompson School District and located in east Loveland, Colorado. Our mascot is the Mighty Mustang and we are named after James Monroe, the fifth president of the United States.

Office Hours
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Safety
Please take extra caution during drop-off and pick-up times. If you are utilizing the parking lot, curbside parking is for quick drop-off and pick-up of your child(ren). There is no double-parking in our lot. If you attempt to park between cars waiting at the curb and cars are parked diagonally in the lot, you will be asked to move. Please make sure you allow yourself enough time to find a safe place to park before and after school.

Mission Statement
The Monroe Elementary School Community is dedicated to providing a safe, child-centered, enriched environment. We are committed to the development of independent, responsible, life-long learners.

Academic Focus
Monroe’s Positive Academic Support team has remained focused on student achievement. We strive to acknowledge and support students in their work habits, efforts and accomplishment as they work toward their personal academic goals. Along with this positive focus, we have established an ongoing Problem Solving Team (PST) that unites parents, students, teachers, staff and others to provide instructional interventions and support to help meet students’ needs and achieve success.

School Climate
The Positive School Climate team continues to provide activities for staff, parents and students making Monroe a wonderful place to learn. Parents are welcomed and recognized for their dedication and support to their students and our school. Teachers and staff members are also recognized on a regular basis by peers for what they do for students and staff members. Substitutes, visitors and parents comment about the positive, welcoming environment when they come to Monroe Elementary School.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program makes a continuing impact on behavior and student achievement. We continue to improve the process, looking at data and responding to students by establishing and monitoring behavior plans. Data is continually a focus as we work together on ways to improve the school environment and students’ ability to feel safe and respected while at school. Staff members and student leaders produced a playground video which promotes our Mighty Mustang behavior of being Safe, Respectful and Responsible.

Family Activities
We continue to provide family involvement through parent nights, Parent and Teacher Organization (PTO), School Academic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and volunteer opportunities monthly. Families enjoy showcase nights at each grade level which include music presentations and PE activities along with showcasing student artwork. We enjoy having families join us several times a year for breakfast and a luncheon. Our Community Liaison provides resources and activities for many of our families as well.

Technology in Education
All classroom teachers and many support staff have laptop computers in their classrooms. With the help of our PTO we continue to expand our technology with interactive whiteboards in every classroom. Teachers have taken and continue to take classes which enable them to use these instructional tools effectively. We are proud of our accomplishments with regards to interactive technology available to staff and students. We also have an engaged computer lab and two Chromebook carts to serve students as they work with their teachers, receive instruction, participate in assessments and receive interventions on a regular basis.
