PRIDE Student Council is a dynamic group of Cottonwood Plains student leaders focused on school and community service. PRIDE students develop their own personal leadership skills through leadership on improvement projects and school “Spirit” days.
Our Student Council representative body is made up of a combination of 4th and 5th grade students, while officers are only fifth graders. Each spring, membership is opened up to all 3rd and 4th grade students who want to complete a membership form, or write a persuasive letter for those opting for officer roles. After interviews of all are complete and positions are filled, the next year’s Student Council body of students is set. PRIDE, Panthers Respecting Individuals Demonstrating Excellence, meet every Tuesday morning throughout the school year.
In the current 2015-16 school year, PRIDE Student Council students led a school-wide project called Change for Change, a fundraiser to buy swings on our playground for our differently-abled students who can not access our current equipment. The students were successful and two new swings for these students will be hung in our playground this spring.
