"Listening Sessions" Focusing on District Planning Process Continue

Thompson School District has partnered with a professional research company called Cooperative Strategies to conduct a series of "listening sessions" throughout our community. The focus of the meetings is to generate discussion and gather feedback regarding the recent November district ballot items and the current desires of our community as we move forward in the planning process.

Below is a listing of the community meetings, along with a draft agenda:

Thursday, February 23 - 6-8 pm

Tuesday, February 28 - 6-8 pm
Grace Place Church, 375 Meadowlark Drive, Berthoud, CO 80513

Thursday, March 16 - 6-8 pm
Chilson Senior Center, 700 E. 4th Street, Loveland, CO 80537

Thursday, March 23 - 6-8 pm
Ponderosa Elementary School, 4550 Florence Drive, Loveland, CO 80538

Thursday, March 30 - 6-8 pm

Saturday, April 1 - 10 am - 12 pm

Tentative Agenda for the Sessions

-Welcome and Introductions. (5 mins)
-Discuss the current facility, infrastructure and technology needs of the school district. (10 mins)
-Discuss the current state of school funding in Colorado and funding for facilities within Thompson School District. (10 mins)
-Overview of the 2016 bond and the scope of work for the facilities identified in the school district master plan. (20 mins)
-Community feedback regarding the 2016 bond election (45 mins to 1 hour)

COMMUNICATION

-Did the community feel the bond program was well communicated?
-Did the community know what the bond dollars would be spent on?
-Did the community feel like they had a voice in the process?

COMMUNITY WANTS AND NEEDS

Did the community feel their schools were getting what they needed?
Did the community feel what was being proposed at their school was appropriate?
Beyond what was being proposed, what else would the community want at their schools?

TAX BURDEN

Did the community feel the tax impact was too high for them to afford?
Did the community feel like their taxes weren’t going to their school?
Would the community support a school tax at all?
